Courageous Advocacy
Courageous advocacy is the act of speaking up and advocating for a cause or issue that one believes in, even in the face of opposition. Courageous advocates are willing to stand and speak out against injustice. They are driven by a strong sense of purpose and belief that their actions can make a difference.
To have a secure understanding of what courageous advocacy is, each year group has explored a person across the globe, both past and present, that have faced injustice and overcome barriers in order to help others, instigate change and make a different through their actions. They are all good examples of courageous advocates.
This year the classes have chosen the following special courageous advocates:
Year R – David Attenborough
Year 1 – Greta Thunberg
Year 2 – Malala Yousfzai
Year 3 – Martin Luther King
Year 4 – Sir Nicholas Winton
Year 5 - Jane Goodhall
Year 6 – Alan Turing
The classes have presented on their courageous person to the whole school and governors and also planned a project where they can instigate a change and try to make a difference.
